St. David's School:
Innovation Warriors Initiative
07/01/2012 - present
Known for developing students’ faith, virtue and knowledge, St. David’s believes that to fully engage and benefit their generation, students and graduates must capably and passionately apply themselves to solving real-world problems locally and globally. To reach their potential as positive forces within their families, schools and communities requires they develop core competencies in creative thought, innovation and execution.
Designed by the CrossM Team in close collaboration with St. David's leadership and faculty, the Innovation Warriors Initiative (IWI) is how St. David's Warriors develop the skills, knowledge, abilities and bias for action to become impactful innovators, entrepreneurs and servant leaders who seek and solve problems among the grand challenges facing our world. From lower school through upper school, the IWI provides students pathways and connections to create, build and execute their solutions to real-world problems. Inspired by leading models of innovation including Stanford’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design, IDEO and the award-winning Innovators Academy, the Initiative is built upon the four cornerstones of Design Thinking, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Servant Leadership.
Ultimately, the IWI gives every student the opportunity to build a personal portfolio of academic achievement, discoveries and innovations, work experience, entrepreneurial activities and servant leadership roles. These portfolios serve as distinctive credentials for students and alumni seeking college admission, employment or support for their entrepreneurial and service visions.
